After IFBB officials presented strong evidence against Tonya Knight that she got someone other than herself her to supply test-passing pee, she admitted that she sent a surrogate to take a mandatory drug test administered before the 1988 Ms. Olympia, where she finished fourth. In a ruling handed down in November 1989, Knight was suspended and stripped of her 1989 Ms. International title and prize money. Jackie, who was the runner up in the 1989 Ms. International, was thus awarded the 1989 Ms. International title.

Legacy

Jackie is the only winner of the Ms. International to be awarded the title after the original Ms. International title winner was disqualified.

This 12-time Olympic medalist reveals her ultimate 6.5-minute ab workout that helps keep her fit

Five-time Olympic swimmer and 12-time Olympic medalist Dara Torres demonstrates her ultimate ab workout that keeps her in amazing shape. Torres has teamed up with SHOW MORE OF YOU from Celgene and Otezla — a campaign that is shining light on the psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis.

To learn more about psoriatic disease, visit the campaign’s website. Following is a transcript of the video.

I’m going to show you guys some ab exercises that are very simple to do. You can do these very easily at home. Don’t need any equipment.

What you want to do is you want to lay down. You want to put your hands underneath your glutes, okay? And you can do them with your head down, but I like to do them with a crunch up because it gives you a little more difficulty in the exercise.

All you are going to do is going to lift your feet up about 6 inches off the floor. You’re going to start your stopwatch, and you’re going to start doing flutter kicks like this.

This is easy if you’re a swimmer, I guess. But what you want to do, especially if you haven’t ever done these before, is you want to start in, maybe 15 second increments. For me, I do 30 to 45 seconds at a time. So, these are called flutter kicks. Then what we’re going to do is leg lifts.

You go right into it. There’s no break. If you need a break, you can take a break, but I don’t like to take a break. So, you’re still crunching up. You’re doing little tiny leg lifts okay?

Then the next exercise are scissors. Just cross one leg over the other. Again, you’re only about 6 inches off the ground. You don’t want to go too high because then you’re not engaging your abs. You want to keep your feet down about 6 inches off the ground.

So, now you’re doing scissor kicks. Then we have the sways from side to side. This still works your lower abs but also gets a little bit of your obliques. And the other one I like to do is circles. You do one circle to the right and one circle over to the left, and just keep doing these.

Again, I do these in 30 second increments, but if you’re just starting out, just try 15 seconds. And the last one are these circles where you put your feet in and then you circle out, and then circle in and then circle out. So, that’s a great way to work your lower abs.

Being a woman and being 50 years old I really like to work the lower part of my obliques.

The next exercise I’m going to do is call the plank, and they’re very simple in the sense that again, you don’t need exercise equipment.

All you are going to do is you’re going to get on your elbows and make sure your toes are facing the ground. You want your feet about hip width apart. And all you are going to do is make sure your hands are facing each other, just lift your body up.

You want to make sure that you have a nice flat position with just a little bit of lift in your pelvic area. If you’ve never done these before, start off with not a lot of time and then work your way up.

I do these for about 2 minutes. One way to make it a little challenging is to do rocking back and forth on your toes. Just make sure you always finish back where your shoulders are underneath your elbows, like that. Then you can also do little tucks. And just tuck, and maybe do 20 tucks, like that. And that’ll put more resistance on your abs.

Okay, one other thing I like to do… of course you see I’m not stopping, but you guys can take some breaks. I like to do hip rolls on the plank. So, all you’re doing is rolling one hip and coming around and rolling the other hip.

You try to touch the ground. This will really really get you those six pack abs because you’re working your obliques, alright? And the last exercise I like to do — it’s still called a plank, it’s a side plank. Just lift yourself up.

Again, I’m going to put my leg over here because my right knee is bad. You want to make sure that you’re not too far over or too far forward or you’ll fall down. And you can stay like this, which is a very difficult exercise, or if you really want to make it more of a challenge for your obliques, you do dips — Just so your hip just grazes the ground and then back up again.

So, just dip and up. You can do a number of them like maybe 10, or I like to do them for 45 seconds on each side maybe 3 times. And there are some ab exercises for you that are very easy to do at home.

Hayley McNeff won the Team Universe Heavyweight division this year in a very controversial win. The Team Universe winners are each drug tested to ensure the drug free compliance. As a result, her eligibility to compete in IFBB World Amateur Women’s Championships has been confirmed.

Hayley didn’t feel she was the best on stage. In a response on SiouxCountry she is quoted:

“the black girl that got 2nd next to me – i actually felt bad lol. you have a great physique girl and you nailed it that day…which i definitely did not! lol. if it makes you feel better, i felt horrible putting the trophy next to my other ones today…just doesn’t feel good. i hope you do well at your next show!! you have an awesome physique!”

Alisa Allen was the competitor in question, and she responded, “…I will be back. I am back in the gym and doing what I love and working on bringing up certain areas.”

Arina Manta: Transylvanian IFBB Figure Pro

Arina MantaArina: My name is Arina Manta (Fit Doll nickname). I am originally born in Romania (Transylvania, the country of Dracula) and for the past 16 years, I reside in Sydney, Australia. I started my sporting career at the tender age of three.

Until the age of 6, I was trained as a gymnast and spring board diver, until I won my first spring board diving competition and I was selected to represent Romania at the age of 7 at the European Championships in Germany. At the age of 12, I was rewarded with my spring board diving Pro-Card and that made me the youngest Pro-Athlete ever in Romania and one of the most talented young athletes of that time.

Moving to Australia and having a heart of a competitor and always training for all different reasons, a few years later, I started to enter few competitions as a Bikini/Sport model.

Having a good athletic background, few years later, I entered my first fitness competition and since then, I never looked back. A couple of years later, I became Miss Fitness Australia, where I competed for a few years and represented Australia at the World Championships.

Then I moved to figure; where in my first competition, I won the short Figure class and the overall, becoming Miss Figure Overall Australasia.. Again, I represented Australia in the World Championships.

Then a few months later, I was rewarded with my Pro-Card. Becoming Professional for the second time in my life at a different sport, I was very pleased with my achievements.

In the mean time, I also became the Trainer of Champions (Master Trainer Coach), Supplement Consultant , an International Fitness Model, a Choreographer and a Make-up artist.

Supplement consultant, now that’s my kind of job. Where do you reside and train at?

Arina: I reside in Sydney, Australia and I train at City Gym in Sydney, Australia and Gold’s gym in Venice ( US ).

What is your competitive history?

Arina:

 • (AA): – Professional Spring board diver for Romania ranked number 1 for 10 years consecutive
 • Miss Fitness Victoria (Australia)
 • Miss Fitness NSW (Australia)
 • Miss Fitness Australia
 • Miss Short Figure Australasia
 • Miss Figure Overall Australasia
 • World Championships Finalist (Spain)
 • IFBB Pro-Figure

Ken

That is very impressive! When did you become a IFBB Pro Figure?

Arina: I became an IFBB Pro-Figure in 1995.

Can you tell us what magazines or websites we might have seen you in.

Arina: I have been featured in a few fitness magazines like:

Muscle and fitness ( US and Australian ), Ironman ( US and Australian ) , Muscular Development, Planet Muscle, Hardcore( AUS ), Muscular mag, HFM, Cosmopolitan, a few European magazine and more.

Probably you have seen me on a lot of websites, but I will try to mention a few of them:

Billdobbins.com, bodybuilding.com, asn.com.au, herbiceps.com, Rxmuscle.com, leanladies.com, Extremefitness.com, musculardevelopment.com, anabolex.com, and many more.

Very respectable magazines and websites, “Now We Got You”. What has been your stepping stone to get where you are today?

Arina: My stepping stone was my strong mind, my discipline, my ambition, my love for training and my passion for health and beauty.

All of that has truly paid off. Do you have a trainer or do you do it on your own?

Arina: No I don’t have a trainer and never had one. Every preparation on and off season I am doing it all by myself. I do also prepare (including on line preparation) other competitors at National and International levels..

What is your training philosophy?

Arina: When someone wants to become healthier, regular physical activity is important for overall health and fitness, combined with healthy nutrition and supplementation.

Training helps control the body weight by balancing the calories we are eating each day, decreases the risk of coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis and many more. Training at least 3 times per week (any type of activity, including weight training) should be included in everyone’s lifestyle for a better living and life extension .

People listen to Arina! these diseases are serious, exercising and a healthy lifestyle can help to prevent them. Can you give us a run down of what your current training workout looks like?

Arina: I do train every day. 7 times per week I do cardio, 5 times per week I train with weights 1 or 2 times per week I do rollerblading and 2 times per week of advanced flexibility.

When I do cardio I do treadmill, cross trainer or walking at the beach (some days walking in the sand).

My weight training plan is: 2 days on 1 day off and 3 days on and 1 day off.

I do high volume repetitions for my legs (example 500 to 800 lunges in one go). For upper body, I do less repetitions, but still very intense.

ArinaIs this training routine something that be modified for a beginner or novice athlete to use to build muscle and lose body fat or is this something that is more suited for an advanced athlete?

Arina: I do believe that my training is more suitable for an advanced athlete.

Could you share with us your philosophy on nutrition.

Arina: My philosophy on nutrition is maintaining a properly balanced diet (or simply put eating healthy). To stay healthy there are numbers of calories a person needs to consume per day, depending on the age, activity level and each person’s goal. Eating and not starving, also is my philosophy on nutrition. Eating every 3 hours, small meals, eating clean, not standing up from the table with a full stomach and doing some physical activity are the keys to great results. Having an expert to do a meal plan for you is also a good investment.

Yes, receiving the knowledge of an expert is priceless. What was the hardest thing you had to deal with when it came to your diet?

Arina: The hardest thing was the amount of portions I had to eat. Even though I was eating every 2 to 3 hour, after eating my meal to stand up from the table, and still wanting to eat a bit more.

How important are supplements in your bodybuilding program and which supplements do you use year round?

Arina: Supplements are very important for everyone (no matter what your level of training is). To get the most from training, we must supply the body with the proper nutrients: protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. Supplements have a very important role in my fitness lifestyle. I use supplements for muscle repair/recovery and support of immune system, for maintaining healthy hormone levels, and to decrease muscle protein breakdown,

I use year around: WPI, Glutamine, BCAA, fish oil, multivitamins, Vit C, Vit E, CQ10, ZMA, calcium,

Arina Black Bikini

What supplements do you feel are essential when preparing for a bodybuilding competition?

Arina: From all my studies and the knowledge I have as a supplement consultant and also taking the supplements, the most essential supplements when preparing for a competition are : Protein ( I like the fast released WPI ), Glutamine, L-Arginine, BCAA, L-Tyrosine,Taurine, Carnitine, ZMA, Multivitamins, CQ10, Fish oil, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Calcium ,Folic Acid, Chromium picolinate, ALA, CLA.

What advice would you give to someone who has tried a number of weight loss programs with no success?

Arina: My advice is NEVER GIVE UP. When you want to transform your body or become healthier, personal factors like the attitude, commitment and desire to improve your appearance play an important role in your success. You have to truly believe that you can reach your goal and if you can believe, YOU CAN DO IT. Be positive and embrace challenge, don’t think success is coming to you and never look for perfection, concentrate on progress. Also my advice is to find an experienced trainer who knows about nutrition, supplements and training and who truly can help you to reach your goals.

Yes! I feel motivated and ready to hit the gym now. Where and when is your next competition?

Arina: I didn’t decide just yet which competition I will enter next.

What is your favorite body part to workout and why?

Arina: I really like training my legs. I just love to have my legs in shape the whole time and also (as crazy as it sounds) but I really enjoy the burning sensation.

Wow! you truly are a renegade, most people have to really pump themselves up for an intense leg workout. Can you tell us about your family? Are you married? Do you have children?

Arina: I am not married, but hopefully one day I will be. Right now I am in a relationship with a wonderful man Robert Bell, which I like to say that he is: THE BEST BOYFRIEND IN THE WORLD :).

He is my best friend, lover, and biggest supporter. Robert, being himself an athlete at a very young age, (a Semi Pro footballer) and being a very successful entrepreneur in the US, he does understand so well my way of living of being discipline, having ambitions, having a strong mind and not being afraid of taking risks to climb to the top.

Sounds like a great guy to have in your corner! If one of our readers was interested in becoming a Pro figure bodybuilding competitor and already lives a healthy lifestyle, what would your advice be to her?

Arina: First step I would definitely advise the person to do a search (or get advice from an experienced person who has done competitions) on everything that is involved in becoming a Figure or a Bodybuilder competitor. You have to be ready to make sacrifices (including with your family, friends and from your social lifestyle), you have to be ready to be discipline, to learn how to be a planner and how to stay focused.

If you could thank one person for helping you reach your fitness goals, who would it be?

Arina: I have to thank my parents and my grandmother. They both were athletes when they were young. My dad used to be a Pro Soccer player for Romania and my mum an ex gymnast. They gave me a good education and they taught me how to have faith and never be afraid to take risks, to believe in myself and to stay happy and positive. Even though they still live in Romania, they are always there for me with their positive support and love.Arina

I am happy to hear you give your parents such compliments, I also owe all my success to my parents, two of the greatest people I have had the privilege to have in my life. Who has been the most memorable person you have enjoyed working with?

Arina: That will be the legendary Bill Dobbins (one of the best photographers in the Fitness Industry). I love working with Bill because he is a perfectionist and he is the biggest supporter of female physiques for years, he sees us (the female physique) as an art and he appreciates a strong physique combined with beauty.

Would you like to give a shout out to anyone?

Arina: I just want to thank my boyfriend Robert for his support and understanding. I also want to thank my sponsor in Australia ASN (Australian Sports nutrition) for their support for the past year and thank you to Muscle-4Life-Nutrition.com for this interview.

We love having you as a Featured Athlete. What are your big plans for the future?

Arina: My next big plan is to see my own Supplement out on the market, which will happen very soon.. At the moment it is in the making and hopefully by first month of next year it will be out on the market. Having my own Supplement brand was another big dream of mine for few years. Another plan is to have my second DVD out which will be a training DVD and my own line of clothes.

Anything else you would like to add?

Arina: I found that Muscle-4Life-Nutrition.com is carrying only the highest quality supplements and brands. I am definitly very pleased for taking the time to do this interview.

Lou “The Hulk” Ferrigno being considered for President Trump’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition

Screenshot (46)Actor Lou Ferrigno, best known for his turn as the Incredible Hulk throughout the late-70s and early-80s, is apparently in the running to become the head of Donald Trump’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. Ferrigno, who spoke with the Daily Mail about his candidacy, claims he has been speaking with Trump about working with the governmental organization.

“I am an appointee and I want to be the Head of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness & Nutrition,” he said. “I have been corresponding with President Trump because I want to change America and make America healthy again. I am a top choice for them. I feel I am the best candidate for that.”

The Council, which has been chaired by fitness and sports celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Drew Brees in the past, is a platform to advocate healthier lifestyles for all Americans.”I would focus on explaining to everyone, some people may have some physical handicaps or maybe injured knees, there are so many different machines and better ways to eat, and it is all about combining the mind and the body together,” Ferrigno said of his ambitions for the role. “If you can do that, anybody can get in shape. It is all about changing from lazy to positive leverage.”

Ferrigno is a vocal supporter of Trump, as well as a former contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, and was pushing for Trump’s presidency as early as 2015. He hasn’t been swayed by the criticism surrounding the embattled Commander-in-Chief, either.

“It is hard to be in politics. Trump is a great president,” he said.

Ferrigno’s past as not only the Incredible Hulk, but also a professional bodybuilder certainly makes him uniquely qualified for this position. However, his interview with the Mail could simply be part of his bid to further establish himself as a legitimate candidate. It isn’t clear whether his appointment to the role is imminent.

Dallas McCarver, 26, and Rich Piana, 46, deaths send shockwaves through IFBB

Screenshot (49)IFBB suffers backlash – 26 year old Dallas McCarver death and 46 Rich Piana.

The death of Dallas McCarver and Piana has sent shock waves throughout the bodybuilding and fitness world.
Sport and entertainment websites from all over the world have been reporting the death of 26-year-old McCarver and 46-year-old Rich Piana this week!
The breaking news Dallas McCarver
Not long after the incident, the 911 audio that had IFBB Pro Joshua Lenartowicz try to give McCarver CPR was released.
The leak of this audio caused a uproar in the bodybuilding world and even Joshua Lenartowicz was angered by it being published by TMZ and the dailymail.co.uk.
Following the tragic event, a number of IFBB Pro and retired IFBB Pro’s went to their social media to vent their frustrations against the sport of bodybuilding and the IFBB.

A number of trainers and athletes are using this incident as a springboard to attack the IFBB and the state of bodybuilding today.

Retired IFBB Pro John DeFendis and Phil Hernon did a live talk on Facebook talking about McCarver and the state of bodybuilding. However we all Agree the new generation of mass monsters are all paying the price and something needs to be fucking done!
Old School has always been the Gold school. Bigger is not better so put away all the GH, insulin and Synthol that has killed the sport and its athletes in this new era of out of the norm freak show! I have to agree that this sport and the federation has become a cesspool of complete shit over the years! Esthetics, balance and symmetry are a thing of the past! Arnold couldn’t have said it any better in his rant of today’s athletes looking like bottles, no symmetry, no balance, looking Prego!

The IFBB pro card had lost it credibility years ago and is currently worthless handing out hundreds of pro cards a year to Just about anyone compared to the 80’s early 90’s when only 3/4 IFBB pro cards were issued each year!! Thus giving value and great worth!!

So to all current IFBB pro’s card holders i agree and concur with the others 100% as your IFBB Pro card is meaningless these days and has lost all respect and credibility due to what the sport has become. The only ones selected to compete in Olympia, Arnold Classic out of the current “THOUSANDS” of IFBB pros today will only go to the selected ones who are willing to push the envelope to extreme doing what it takes to get there Insulin with every meal, massive amounts of GH, Peptides, and Synthol…

dallas-mccarver-dana-brookes3

So now here we are…,
Massive Bodybuilding sensation Rich Piana has died … nearly 3 weeks after going into a coma following a medical emergency at his Florida apartment, TMZ Sports has learned.
We broke the story … Piana collapsed while getting a haircut on August 7. His girlfriend, Chanel, tried to revive him but was unable to wake him.
Piana was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was placed into a medically induced coma — but was unable to recover.
The District Six Medical Examiner in Florida confirms Piana passed away early Friday morning at the hospital.
I concur with John DeFendisPhil Hernon and all the other pros with the BALLS to speak up and whom are speaking out! The athletes, trainers, fans, and IFBB Pros who are speaking out are the true Ambassadors of this lost so called sport, they are the ones whom once truly loved what it stood for long ago. I never let my IFBB Pro card represent me, or stand for who I am. I let my 87 covers, world records do the talking as I believe in keeping my mouth shut and letting my hard work and records do all the talking. Remember haters will always hate, and these deaths are only the beginning on what it takes capturing a worthless IFBB Pro card!!

My sincere condolences to all the friends and family’s of Rich and Dallas!

Also my Condolences to all the past deaths of our athletes and sympathy for all the ones whom currently have severe health issues per kidney transplants, liver and heart complications which are way far to many to list.

I am hardened by this, and frustrated. I pray all take heed to these words! And acknowledge that this bull shit isn’t worth your health, your life, to be an IFBB Pro.
Don’t be selfish and only think about yourself, think about your friends and family whom truly love you. Not the ones who praise you every day to become bigger, huger & freakier than day before and do what it takes.
As these are the ones who really don’t care when your gone as you’ll be replaced by another mass monster to idolize in your place.

Memorial Tribute: Marthe Sundby, inspirational and heartbreaking, passes away from liver cancer

International Champion of fitness and bodybuilding, Marthe Sundby(42), chose to be open about her disease of liver cancer, died on September 12, 2017.
“Marthe left a little after 8 o’clock today early. She will be very missed”, says Kim Torgersen.

Sundby received a lot of support after several posts on Facebook and in an interview, where she was open about her cancer. Her instagram account and pictures speak volumes: https://www.instagram.com/marthe75/

Her sister Cecilie said that, until recently, she insisted on getting out to go for a walk each day.

“Even Monday night, she managed to get out for a small trip, even though she was completely lost. Getting to know the wind in her hair and feeling on nature meant so much to her, “says Cecilie Sundby.

Her sister has planned the funeral to the smallest detail.

“Marthe wanted everything to be clear that the least possible burden should be put on others. Everything she has done for other people, how important she has been to many, makes me very touched, she says.

SEASON: Marthe and Cecilie Sundby. </ P>

The funeral is to be in Aurskog Church, where the family is from.

“Marthe was very grateful for all the help, care and support she received from both healthcare professionals and others. She was really sorry because she failed to answer all the inquiries she received.

On the sister’s Facebook profile, some words are conveyed as the family wishes to reach:

“Thank you very much for life,” said Marthe. Love high Grab the day, use nature and live while you can. Positiveness, good thoughts and love ».

In the VG interview in August, the practitioner told bodybuilding and fitness about the disease that had hit her hard .

She received broad support for her last wish:

“I have fought and struggled to perform in fitness, bodybuilding, weightlifting and skating. My last big wish is that no one says I lost the fight against cancer when I die that the term is being wound up for all time. This disease has so many unknown factors that it is impossible to fight, “Sundby said.

The next day, she received support from VG at the management site .

She was then admitted to soothing treatment for liver cancer at Ahus. In the interview in August, she praised the staff at the department.

“As an athlete, I have had a high pain threshold. The last year, with tough treatments, has been a painful hell. Getting here is paradise, although I know I’m going to die here, she told VG.

For the most part in her career she managed to lift 240 kilos in knee and 150 kilos in bench press.

“I was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2007 and was notified after surgery. Unfortunately, I regained a few years ago, but I have managed to work out sometime and have so far participated in competitions, she said.

The athlete in bodybuilding and fitness requests that the term “lost fight against cancer” be terminated.
The 42-year-old received wide support and was celebrated after she shared several honest posts on Facebook and Instagram about the serious situation she is in.

“I have fought and struggled to perform in fitness, bodybuilding, weightlifting and skating. My last big wish is that no one says I lost the fight against cancer when I die that the term is being wound up for all time. This disease has so many unknown factors that it is impossible to fight, “says Sundby.

– How are the prospects?

“From what I know and what the doctors say, it’s talk of days or a week. If I get two weeks, it’s delicious. I enjoy every day I’m breathing, “she says.

She has previously been through an operation and a number of tough treatments. The hope was to get a transplant, but the spread was too big to make it happen.

Constable Chief Tonje Sandblost is responsible for the soothing treatment Marthe Sundby now gets.

– This liver cancer diagnosis is rare and severe. We try to relieve the pain and assist with care, “says Sandblost.

She supports Sundby that the term “losing the fight against cancer” is unfortunate.

“We who work with the palliative field are concerned that no one should feel responsible for being ill. Everybody should be able to get good and soothing treatment and care. By using this term, it can be understood that the person has not been good enough. This is a term we try to avoid”, says Sandblost

“The training started when I competed for ice skating. I discovered that I had facilities to build muscle. Standing on stage and competing against other girls around the world has been an adventure”, she says.

At the most she managed to lift 240 kilos in knee and 150 kilos in bench press.

“I was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2007 and was notified after surgery. Unfortunately, I got relapse a couple of years ago, but I have managed to work out sometime and have so far participated in competitions, she says.

She is clear that life has been good and rich, that is little she should have done differently. For the last 10 years she has worked as a property manager at Colliers, Oslo, where she lives. Originally she comes from Aurskog.

KJENT: Marthe Sundby has been at the front of several magazines, here from the Training Forum in 2013. </ p> Marthe Sundby has been at the front of several magazines, here from the Training Forum in 2013.

“I have not lived a normal life with husband and children, but have many friends and big family. Now that I’m going to die of cancer, I’m glad I do not have children, she says.

Upon further reflection, she has some good advice:

“Take care of each other and live in the present. Things are not so important. If I had received a few more days, I would pinch more people”, she says.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Cancer Society, Ole Alexander Opdalshei, applauds Sundby’s wish.

The term “losing the fight against cancer” can be interpreted as not enough. We urge everyone to stop saying this.

What Happens to Women that go from Cardio to Weight Training

A fitness instructor has posted a stunning transformation on Instagram, proving to her followers that lifting weights won’t make women “manly.”

Rebecca Catherine Smith, who has more than 49,000 followers on the social media site, said she’d often “spend hours on cardio machines” in a bid to get rid of fat but “never saw results.”

She had an unhealthy relationship with food and would do cardio simply to “burn calories” rather than get fit.

But in a side-by-side comparison, Smith revealed how swapping her long runs and restrictive diet for some weights and triple the amount of food has impacted her body shape.

“It infuriates me how still so many girls think the second you pick up a dumbbell or protein shake you’ll suddenly become the hulk,” Smith wrote on Instagram next to the images. “[C]hanging my training from cardio to weights changed me completely inside & out and each to their own but I personally don’t think I’ve made my body look at all manly in my past year and a bit of weight training!”

Smith’s post, which has received more than 15,000 likes, revealed the three reasons why women need to ditch the mentality that weights result in bulking — and why they should start lifting:

1. Building strength & muscles

“Lifting builds on a woman’s natural curves and helps your body be the strongest it can. Ripped abs, sexy strong back, shoulder boulders & a curvy behind all come from lifting.”

2. Losing that extra body fat

“My body fat percent saw a massive fall when I began lifting because as your muscle mass increases your metabolism increases. Before I would spend hours on cardio machines thinking that will get rid of fat but I never saw any results. It just made me hate going to the gym and if you feel like you’re in that boat then change it up now!”

3. Healthy relationship with food & body image

“Starting weight training made me realize food is fuel and I need lots of it to get the best out of my training.”

“The amount I eat has honestly tripled since I picked up lifting and I absolutely love it … there’s no restricting and there’s no guilt in indulging in treats once in a while because what better way to fuel a sesh.”

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I am a bit of an extremist, I decided to give up smoking and change my whole lifestyle.

That’s when I started looking around for a trainer and on a whim I was referred to my current coach Renaldo Gairy.

6

Where does your motivation come from?

I have an insatiable need to be the best version of myself. I’ve also been hurt in the past, and I use that to fuel me.

I think about all the people who didn’t believe in me and it makes me push harder.

4

What workout routine has worked best for you?

I really like targeting specific muscle groups and have found that a 5 day training split has worked well for me.

Full Routine:

Monday: Quads

 • Leg Extension 2 x 15
 • Barbell Squats 3 x 12
 • Smith Machine Sumo Squat 3 x 12

 • Reverse Cable Laterals 4 x 15

Saturday: Rest

 • Yoga 45 mins

Sunday: Rest

 • Yoga 45 mins

5

If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?

 1. Stiff Leg Deadlifts: This is an amazing exercise for the glutes and hamstrings, and I love to feel the burn!
 2. Weighted Hip Bridges: I feel I can really target my glutes with this exercise.
 3. T-Bar Row Machine: I feel my back can never be too shredded, and I love what this exercise does for my back.

12

What is your diet like?

My diet is a pretty standard, ‘bodybuilding diet.’

Daily Diet:

 • Meal 1: 5 Egg Whites, 8 ounces Oats and Coffee
 • Meal 2: 3 ounces Chicken Breast, 3 ounces Sweet Potatoes and 4 ounces Green Beans

 • Meal 5: 3 ounces Turkey, Mixed Green Salad and 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
 • Meal 6: 1 Scoop Casein

11

When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?

I love HIIT. I find it challenging, intense and very effective. What more could you want?

7

What is your supplementation like?

 • Protein
 • Casein
 • Glutamine
 • Creatine
 • BCAA’s
 • Fish Oil
 • Vitamin C
 • Multivitamin

-BIKINI COMPETITOR? MMA FIGHTER? SUPER MUSCULAR? OR THAT HOT WOMAN YOU KNOW WHO JUST “GOES TO THE GYM?”
-IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO MEET, DATE AND SEDUCE ANY TYPE OF ATHLETIC WOMAN AND I COULD GIVE YOU AN UNFAIR ADVANGE OVER EVERY OTHER MAN WOULD YOU USE IT?

Finally, a step by step way for you to meet, attract, date, seduce – and even be in a relationship with the athletic women that you’ve dreamed about – No matter what you look like or how much money you make!

Take a look around. There are more single athletic women than ever before. For the first time in history women are being encouraged to really work out and even compete in sports that were once exclusively male. When I was a kid, “lady wrestlers” were a sideshow act of mostly unattractive women in over-sized bathing suits. Today strong women are celebrated for both their strength and femininity. The are literally millions of fit women everywhere and they want lovers and boyfriends and husbands too. The myth that strong women are unattractive to men has been smashed forever! The problem that these athletic women are having now is finding men who are able to meet their expectations. They want real men who know how to approach them with confidence, get their number, plan and have a date and continue on into a relationship that creates mutual happiness, Sounds simple, but women are finding it to be very difficult. While this is definitely a great time for fit, athletic and muscular women, it is a horrible time for relationships. Men have been emasculated and feminized by society and strong, confident women are paying the real price. They are lonely and are hoping to meet men who appreciate their dedication and sacrifice to improve their bodies. A man exactly like YOU!

Many female bodybuilders will attest to ‘standing out like a sore thumb’ in a crowd and being starred at by men and women. Some will even joke that they are often treated like “aliens”. It’s typical that even if female bodybuilders’ physiques are privately admired by men and women, many will still judge them publicly. Female bodybuilders especially are ridiculed on anything, from their muscles to their character. Usually the ridicule is solely based on their muscles. People often think that because a female chooses to adorn muscles, her character is automatically flawed. Truth is, these women are rarely given a chance of getting to know them before being scrutinized. This mindset of society alone may be one of the most intriguing reasons why some men are fascinated with female muscle.

If given the opportunity to date a bodybuilder, most male muscle lovers would jump at the chance. Of the men who have had relationships with female bodybuilders, they will tell you that dating them is not much different than dating a “normal woman”. They feel that female bodybuilders are normal women too who just happen to be in a sport which requires muscularity. These are “women and not aliens” and love the same things that most women love in a man and otherwise.

Outside of those who have dated female bodybuilders, it’s quite interesting how many men are intimidated by female muscle. Everyone has an opinion but a lot of the opinions are due to societies views that women should look “feminine” and not have muscles because “muscles are for men”. These same men will say they are pretty confident in themselves; however, when a strong muscular woman gets near them, they tend to become very uncomfortable. Usually this reaction is based on a level of insecurity of one’s self. Some men seem to feel that being a “man” means they have to be in control, and if a woman “appears” to be stronger physically, it sends a message that she just may be more dominant. But looks can be deceiving. Women who wear a muscular body do not always want to portray dominance. They enjoy being soft and adored just as any other woman would, the only difference is they choose to build their bodies.

Many female bodybuilders prefer men who are not bodybuilders. A lot of them feel that since they are surrounded by training the majority of the time, it is nice to have someone in their lives who can take them away from the gym, so to speak, and just concentrate on getting to know one another. However, these women do look for men who are confident in themselves and who are usually fit or have some sense of good health and utilizes it in his life.

Becoming a bodybuilder is a personal choice. Even if the choice is not understood or accepted by others, it is still a choice. The issues that other men and women have with this choice is not that important to female bodybuilders. Opinions, positive and negative will go hand in hand with just about any decision that is made in life. People tend to rebel against things they don’t understand because it makes them uncomfortable.

The comments female bodybuilders get range from ‘she looks like a man’ to ‘she could bench press me’. Some people appear to be grossed out by the look and others admire and want to know how they got their bodies to do that. What’s interesting is, whether grossed out or in awe, the need to stare is the same. This goes back to the sometimes “private admiration” and not being able to show it in a “public” setting for fear of what society will have to say about it.

Either way, female bodybuilders are not something people are used to seeing everyday; therefore, when they are seen, the sight of them will usually cause quite a stir.
